Experience Required:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Criminal Law, Corrections, Counseling, Law, Business Management, Public Administration, Sociology, Cultural Anthropology, Education, or in a job related field of study. Three (3) years of professional work related experience, including one (1) year of supervisory experience. Must possess thorough knowledge of the principles and techniques of correctional casework, management and experience in the specialized area of assignment preferred. Requires thorough knowledge of all applicable federal, state and local rules, regulations and standards. Must become a Certified Juvenile Probation Officer within 6 months of employment. Must posses a valid Texas Driver's License, with a good driving record. Must pass an extensive background investigation. Provides individual and group counseling to all youths to promote and increase personal awareness of responsibilities and alternatives. Makes critical and sound judgments and decisions during crisis or potentially dangerous situations, only in the absence of the supervisor; informs supervisor of problems or situations encountered and actions taken; and documents actions.
Experience Required:
Graduation from an accredited high school/GED program. Three (3) years of work related experience or forty-five (45) hours from an accredited college or university in a job related field of study or a combination of the two. An extensive pre-employment background investigation will be conducted on all applicants who have been offered a position with Dallas County. The hiring process involves successful completion of each step. The steps include: Criminal History Review, Traffic Violations Record, Review of Personal History Statement and Documents, Physical Examination, and Background Investigation. Assists in managing a satellite office by overseeing the work of staff performs as a quasi-judicial officer and conducts intermediate sanction hearings functions as a voting member of the Case Plan Review Committee and/or to the Court and manages and supervises pre-adjudication intensive supervision (PAIS) functions, assessment and electronic monitoring. Trains, develops, motivates, disciplines and coaches staff and volunteers to ensure competent and professional execution of the department and district goals. Serves as a quasi-judicial officer and conducts hearings to determine intermediate sanctions or detention of youths approves recommendations for the disposition of youths to the Case Plan Review Committee (CPRC) and serves as a voting member, in the absence of the supervisor and conducts administrative hearings. Reviews and audits written court documents to include pre-disposition reports, supplements, addendum, agreed orders, detention hearing reports and closed active case files to assure accuracy and completeness. Develops, collects, maintains and interprets statistical data and other information systems to ensure the efficiency and effectiveness of personnel and other available resources. Creates and/or maintains a database system to track recidivism, management of caseloads, court hearings and appearances. Screens, evaluates and assigns new cases to ensure high standards of rehabilitative services are provided and provides coverage of daily work schedules for absent probation officers
Experience Required:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Behavioral Science, or job related field of study. Two (2) years as a probation officer or related professional work experience. Skilled in the use of standard software applications. Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing, and establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, departments and the general public. Must possess a valid Texas driver's license, with good driving record. Must be CPR/First Aid qualified within six months of employment Certified Juvenile Probation Officer knowledge of the Texas Juvenile Justice Code, TJPC standards and Department procedure. Must pass an extensive background investigation. Mandatory drug testing prior to employment and will be subject to random, unannounced drug and/or alcohol testing during employment.
